Milestones Minutes March 2022
March begins with our school-wide celebration of one of our favorite authors, Dr. Seuss! Our spirit week will be Monday, February 28th through Friday, March 4th and our schedule will be as follows:
Monday February 28th – “Fox in Socks” – Wear Your Crazy Socks Day
Tuesday March 1st – “The Cat in the Hat” and “Green Eggs and Ham” (We will be eating Green Eggs & Ham) – Wear Green and Your Crazy Hat Day
Wednesday March 2nd – “Wacky Wednesday” – Dress in Your Wackiest Outfit and Craziest Hairdo
Thursday March 3rd – “Put Me in the Zoo” – Wear Animal Prints or Dress Like Your Favorite Animal
Friday March 4th – “The Sleep Book” – Wear Your Pajamas
Don’t worry our schedule is posted on our outside bulletin board by handwashing sinks and is also available on our website in case you need a reminder.
The week of March 7th our composting efforts will yield the benefit of enriched soil that will be delivered to Milestones for us to use for planting in the garden. Mr. Riley, our composting expert, will be visiting Milestones and speaking to the older children about the benefits of composting our uneaten food.
St. Patrick’s day brings talk of green, gold and rainbows. Watch out for leprechauns at Milestones! The children will try to see if they can catch a leprechaun and find his gold!
March is National Nutrition Month so we will have our “Eat the Rainbow” week March 14th through the 18th. Our cook Chef Steph will be talking to our older classes about the colors we are eating each day and why it is important to have a rainbow of colors on our plate.
March wouldn’t be complete without making our own kites and flying them in the wind. Why does the wind blow? What can the wind blow? The children will experiment with objects and see if the wind can make them move.
We are happy to welcome Spring on Sunday, March 20th and look forward to the warm, sunny weather and playing outside!
We are still requiring staff, parents and children to wash hands at our outdoor handwashing station before entering the center to help reduce the spread of germs. This rule applies at drop off and pick up.
Masks are now optional for staff, parents and children at Milestones. If your child is two or older and you would still like to have them wear a mask we will definitely support your decision. Just stop by the front desk and speak to Ms. Stacey or Ms. Ann and we will communicate this information to your child’s teachers. We will still be requiring outside visitors who are not members of the Milestones family to wear masks while in our center. This would include therapists and prospective parents who are touring our school.
Please make sure to check your email that is connected with Milestones frequently as this is the way we communicate with parents on a regular basis.
Our website is the best place to go for monthly newsletters, upcoming events and closings. Check out our website Home Page and on the right hand side Upcoming Events.
